Raisins are great for adding a sweet taste and consistency to some things. That is exactly the reason it doesn't belong in white bread or buns, those are already kind of sweet and their selling point is the soft and fluffy texture. Raisins in certain curry dishes work well, raisins on their own are fine, alcohol that tastes like raisins is divine. Raisins, and the taste thereof, should be used like all other ingredients and tastes, in the right place at the right time.
